King Study

King Study

“King Study” emerges from a sustained observation of the feline inhabitants of Alp, a small town in Catalonia’s Cerdanya region. The portrait isn’t concerned with precise likeness, but rather with capturing a fleeting impression of character. A restrained palette of charcoal, ivory, and muted greens coalesces in energetic brushwork, suggesting a creature both watchful and self-contained. Light seems to gather and recede across the animal’s form, highlighting the subtle curve of a muzzle and the depth within a single, focused eye. The effect is less a depiction of a subject, and more a distillation of a mood—a quiet dignity held within a moment of repose. This study conveys not simply *what* the cat looks like, but *how it feels* to be in its presence.
