A black-and-white cat sits in a natural setting, gaze turned to the side with quiet authority. The white fur is luminous, built in thick strokes of white with touches of pale blue, lavender, and soft grey. A large black patch covers the left side of the face and ear, rendered in deep charcoal with hints of indigo and dark purple. Piercing emerald green eyes and a small pink nose complete the portrait. The background is a lush blend of forest greens, olive, and earthy browns with scattered flashes of warm yellow and teal.
King is the first of the seven street cats of Alp, a small mountain village in the Catalan Pyrenees. He runs the show. Every other cat in the village knows where King sits and adjusts accordingly. This painting captures his most characteristic posture: alert, composed, unmistakably in charge.
