Coque Study

Coque Study

“Coque Study” emerges from a series focused on the feral felines of Alp, a small town nestled in the Catalan Pyrenees. Here, the artist captures not a portrait of pristine domesticity, but a fleeting impression of wildness held within a gaze. Deep umbers and charcoal tones coalesce to define form, dissolving into passages of warm ochre that suggest sun-dusted stone and the golden grasses of the landscape. The brushwork is immediate, almost gestural, lending a sense of movement and barely-contained energy to the subject. A subtle blush of rose at the nose hints at vulnerability beneath a watchful composure. This is less a depiction of *what* is seen, and more an evocation of *how it feels* to encounter a creature both wary and self-possessed, a fleeting moment of connection forged across the boundaries of observation.
