Barhan
A long-haired cat with a magnificent fluffy coat sits upright, looking straight at you. Rich oranges, deep browns, and bright whites layer across the fur, with emerald green eyes as the focal point. The background splits between dark, moody blues on one side and a vivid green on the other, framing the cat in dramatic contrast.
This was a memorial commission. Barhan lived for twenty years and traveled across several continents, a cat with a truly singular life. The painting now lives in California with his family.
Oil on canvas board, painted wet into wet over multiple sessions. Thick, confident brushwork builds up the texture of the long fur, with impasto highlights catching the light. The bold palette and direct gaze give Barhan the presence he deserves.
